I went to an Emirati wedding recently. It was a rare chance to wear my abaya, a gift from an Emirati friend last year. These pictures were taken before my two friends and I left for the ladies-only party that began around 9 p.m.
I've been to three Emirati weddings. I will write about them soon. For now I just wanted to post something on my blog to show I'm still here.

Frances, you look so cute! MashAllah! Hope you had a great time.
Shokrun jazeelan (pls excuse bad spelling again)! Thanks, and yes, it was a really great time.
Ok, now I know what you remind me of in the abaya...a Fulla doll:)! Especially in the first pic.
Ha! Do you know I sent a Fulla doll to my god-daughter in the US for Christmas and she loved it? A brilliant (cultural) answer to Barbie.
Lovely, Frances!
lol... couldn't wait for the wedding to get over, huh? you look great in that..
Thanks to both of you - I have to admit there is something I really love about wearing an abaya. Makes me feel a little mysterious, maybe, I can't quite put my finger on it.
We went to Wild Wadi (huge water park in Dubai) today so another day goes by without writing about Emirati weddings or anything else! But this topic is germinating in my little mind and so there's sure to be a post about it tonight/tomorrow. Though I'm sitting at my laptop I feel as though I'm still bobbing in the water sitting in an inner tube!
OMG.. Fulla Doll it is!!
Ha ha ha!
I really liked your Blog, it makes me explore more about d uae and its cultures, im also a foreigner here. Please keep writing...
